Why did you choose to be part of the BDF team?

I was at a point where I wanted to work for a company with a strong team culture and a place that cares about one another.  Historically, I was fortunate enough to work for a variety of companies, and in each position, I was able to benefit from learning the industry and applying my people skills with talented professionals.

What skills or characteristics make you uniquely qualified for this work?

I have a true passion for helping people.  I want to listen to them, understand them, and what motivates them.  And I love being able to help them identify solutions.

Who in your life has influenced your career choices?

It has been an amazing journey and not just one person but many.  I would have to say it started with my mom and the VP of HR at her employer before she retired.  Then it continued with other bosses, mentors, and professors.  Ultimately, the yellow-brick road was cemented by the people that I have always worked with.

What do you enjoy most about your role at BDF?

Two things come to mind.  First, having the opportunity to actively recruit and meet new team members.  It is always enjoyable and heartwarming to hear their story.  The second is being an internal resource to our team, working with them to make their jobs fulfilling and enriching.

What does “Helping people enjoy a full life” mean to you?

To me, it is about how I can help our team succeed.  My clients are the BDF team members, and supporting them in any way possible gives me a feeling of being value-added.  Team members that are fully engaged and enjoy their work will do their best work for our clients.

What do you enjoy most about being a part of the BDF team?

The people are all amazing!!  There truly is an energy abuzz when working in the office.  The synergies and collaboration are exhibited during one-to-one meetings to full BDF Team Meetings.  No matter the size of the group, the conversations are intentional, thoughtful, open, and welcoming.  I also love hearing the heartwarming and meaningful shares about how we live our mission with our clients during Team Meetings.

Michele Murphy embraces the team culture at BDF and is passionate about helping the BDF team grow.   A growth mindset is invaluable to everyone, regardless of work and personal interests.  Each day gives the opportunity to learn something new.

As Director of Talent Experience, she is often looking through the team’s lens and how she can help them.  Attracting and retaining top talent is a primary goal of BDF and hers and drives positive organizational changes.  Recruiting new team members is all about connecting with people and marrying the relationship so that everyone benefits.  She enjoys working with the BDF team, and the BDF University curriculum, which will set the team up to succeed.

Michele holds a BA in Human Resources from the University of Wisconsin – Whitewater and a Masters of Business Administration – Human Resources from DePaul University.   Before joining BDF in 2019, she worked in Human Resources in a variety of professional industries, including technology and engineering consulting and insurance, along with a lot of volunteer work with her two children’s schools.  Michele has retained over 20 years of expertise and knowledge in Human Resources that help contribute to the success of recruiting top talent for BDF.
