Anthony Dinverno CFP®

Partner & Chief Technology Officer

Why do clients choose to work with you?

Often times, a family will come to BDF asking for investment help. That initial discussion leads to the client’s goals in life for themselves and their family as well as their values. The work that we do for our clients focuses on these higher goals and part of that includes aligning the investments, tax, estate planning, and insurance with their full life and values. Anthony believes that a family’s finances need to be aligned and continually coordinated at all levels as clients progress through life.

What skills or characteristics make you uniquely qualified for this work?

I have an engineering background, which nicely contributes to the financial side of what I provide for our clients. My charismatic personality helps balance out the number-crunching/engineering side of me.

What is the one thing you wish every person knew when making financial decisions?

Fees and performance are an important part of any financial decision, however having someone give you non-biased feedback and act as a sounding board can be just as, if not more, beneficial.

What is one thing that we would be surprised to know about you?

My wife, Julie, and I grew up only living a few blocks away from each other, attended the same church and high school, but we never met until after we both graduated college.

Who in your life has influenced your career choices?

Both of my parents are my role models, however, my father, Armond Dinverno, has influenced my career choice the most, not by encouraging me to join BDF, but rather by encouraging me to try other careers. My parents love for each other and our family is unsurpassed, and that is something I strive for every day.

Full Bio

With the precise, problem-solving mindset of an engineer and genuine care for people, Anthony Dinverno considers the full range of emotional and financial factors to help families enjoy a full life.

Anthony is grateful to his father, BDF co-founder Armond Dinverno, for encouraging him to explore alternate career options. During his years as an engineer with an HVAC firm in suburban Chicago, Anthony enjoyed building systems to precise specifications, but he missed direct interaction with the people who ultimately benefited from those designs. As a result, he has grown a special appreciation for the personally rewarding work of financial planning. “I get to problem solve and interact with people regularly. I’m excited to come to work every day.”

As a Wealth Manager, Anthony brings his experience to help a diverse group of individuals and families reap the benefits of their life’s work. He first seeks to understand their vision for the future, and then he works closely with the client to design a financial plan that will bring it to life. This plan is the guide against which Anthony helps his clients weigh each personal and business decision—from saving for kids’ and grandkids’ education to deciding whether to make a change in their residence.

The transition to retirement is a watershed event that impacts everyone differently and one that Anthony helps to make easier. Most clients often have some anxiety over how much they need to fund their retirement and enjoy a full life. By showing the effects that various decisions could have on their financial goals, Anthony empowers clients to choose the right plan for them.

Anthony also helps to prepare families for life in retirement.  One main focus is ensuring that clients are retiring to something and not just from something. Additionally, he educates them about their options regarding how and when to take distributions from their various investment accounts.

Anthony received his BA in engineering with a minor in business from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He earned his Certified Financial Planner™ certification through the DePaul University School of Continuing and Professional Education. As a member of the Financial Planners Association, he attends conferences regularly to learn from and share best practices with other members of the wealth management community.

Anthony has been recognized by Forbes as a Best-In-State Next-Gen Advisor and named by Chicago magazine as a Five Star Wealth Manager.  He has served as a member of the Schwab Technology, Operations and Service Advisory Board from 2017 to 2019.  Anthony has contributed his financial planning insights as a panelist at the Financial Planning Association National Conference and other industry conferences.
