What inspired you to choose wealth management as a career?

Wealth management provides an excellent opportunity to not only build meaningful relationships with clients and also satisfy my need to be analytical It is truly a career where you can make a major impact in the lives of the clients you serve.

Why did you choose to be part of the BDF team?

I knew that I wanted to be able to work with a group of people that put always doing the right thing for clients ahead of anything else.  At BDF, I get to be a part of on a team with diverse backgrounds while working on a wide breath of projects for clients.

What is the one thing you wish every person knew when making financial decisions?

It is important to have specific goals that you are working towards, and a strategy to get there.  When you know what you are working towards it will help you to stay the path when life inevitably throws you a curveball.

What does “Helping people enjoy a full life” mean to you?

It means helping every client not only come up with their personal definition of ‘financial security’ but helping them to stay the path when times get tough.  When people are bombarded with headlines and statistics by the media, they need someone that they trust has their best interests in mind to help them keep a level head.

What do you enjoy most about being a part of the BDF team?

I love the “open door” nature of the BDF culture.  No matter how busy someone may be, they are always willing to take the time to help out someone else at the firm.  It is very difficult to truly do your best work when you are on your own, but at BDF you are a member of a team.

Charlie Murin joined Balasa Dinverno Foltz LLC in 2015.  Prior to coming to BDF, Charlie earned a Bachelor of Science from University of Illinois in Agriculture and Consumer Economics with a concentration in Financial Planning. He has his Series 65 license, and is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional.

Charlie enjoys examining the finer details that make every client’s situation unique.  Wealth management is a very personal and often emotional process, and there is no such thing as a “cookie cutter” solution.  Understanding what makes a client’s situation unique and what really matters to the client can have a profound impact on the best steps to take to help them reach their goals.

Outside of work Charlie enjoys spending time with his friends and family, traveling, and following Chicago sports.
