Justin Peacock, MBA, CFP®
What inspired you to choose wealth management as a career?
I liked the idea of working in an industry that was intellectually challenging while focused on the principle of helping others. Wealth management is a dynamic industry that requires you to be well-read, well-informed, and emotionally intelligent to understand and respond to the concerns of others.
Why did you choose to be part of the BDF team?
In short: the people and the process. As I was interviewing, I was impressed with the caliber and character of the BDF team. At the same time, I was drawn to BDF’s business model. I was very interested in joining a firm that focused on keeping the clients’ interests first, and I felt that BDF was well-positioned to do that as an independent, fee-only firm.
What do you enjoy most about being a part of the BDF team?
BDF is truly one large team dedicated to delivering the best advice to our clients. I lean on my colleagues a great deal on a wide array of issues ranging from investments to estate planning to taxes. I tap into their reservoir of experience and knowledge to help deliver the best experience to our clients.
What’s the most influential book you’ve read and why?
Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand is the story of Louis Zamperini, an Olympian and World War II prisoner of war. His story paints an incredible picture of toughness, resolve, sacrifice and eventually redemption. It’s a great reminder of the sacrifice that brave Americans have made over our history to protect all the freedoms that we enjoy in the American life.
Justin Peacock draws genuine satisfaction from advising clients on financial plans and investment management strategies that position them to live a full life – whether that involves retiring early, taking care of their families, navigating investment opportunities or anything else they aspire to achieve.
Before joining BDF, Justin was a member of the asset management and private wealth management groups of Goldman, Sachs & Co. During that time, he developed a deep knowledge of investment strategies, designing globally diversified portfolios and asset allocation strategies for high-net-worth families.
Justin graduated from Illinois State University with a BS in Mass Communication and earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Outside of work, Justin enjoys serving on the leadership team of his local church, riding horses and spending time with his wife and three children.
