Matt Reznik, CPA, MBA, CFP®, CFA

Wealth Manager

What do you enjoy most about being a part of the BDF team?

I enjoy the challenging environment, the amazing people, and the ability to control my career path and progression.

What do you enjoy most about your role at BDF?

I like the responsibility of being the point person on client relationships and being able to mentor the more junior people on my team. I enjoy being the person that clients look to for guidance and answers.

What is one thing that we would be surprised to know about you?

I am a pretty adventurous person and love to experience new cultures and meet different people. I have had some amazing experiences on my travels, including going on safari, shark-cage diving, riding elephants, walking a cheetah, climbing the Great Wall of China, trekking on a glacier in Patagonia, and taking a Thai cooking class.

Who are your role models?

My parents have always been there to support me and my dreams. They never told me what I could and could not do or suggested I follow one career path or another. They encouraged me to do what I wanted to do, and their only concern has been that I’m happy with my career. They gave me a great perspective and raised me to treat others with respect.

Matt Reznik lends a steady hand to his clients’ investment decisions. His even-keeled manner helps them stay focused on the things they can control – such as their spending and savings – rather than on the fluctuations of the market.

Matt enjoys helping clients navigate today’s complex investment environment while staying focused on their goals. BDF’s comprehensive approach to financial planning and independent approach to investment management allow him to do just that. “Knowing you’re sitting on the same side of the table as the client makes you feel great about what you do. If our clients succeed, we succeed.”

As a member of the BDF Investment Committee, Matt helps set the firm’s investment strategy and he mentors staff members who produce the research upon which those investment decisions are made. Another key part of Matt’s role is educating BDF clients through monthly updates on market trends, portfolio changes, and planning opportunities.

Matt’s frequent international travel (he’s visited six of the seven continents) gives him greater insight into how the global environment affects his clients’ portfolios. “We can’t live in a vacuum anymore. We have to be aware of what’s going on in the world.”

Matt earned a BS in Finance and Accounting from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Strategic Management from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Matt has earned Certified Public Accountant, Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, and Chartered Financial Analyst designations. While the CFP® professional focuses on the breadth of financial planning topics, the CFA demonstrates a depth of investment knowledge. Chicago Magazine listed Matt as a Five Star Wealth Manager.
